19/06/2026

Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority CEO Mr. Sibani Mngomezulu, accompanied by His Excellency Ambassador Sibusisiwe Mngomezulu, paid a courtesy call on the Secretary General of the Organisation of African Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) on 17 June 2026 to discuss areas of mutual interest and cooperation between the Kingdom of Eswatini and the Organisation.

Among the key issues discussed was Eswatini’s ongoing lobbying efforts in support of the candidature of Ms. Nontobeko Mabuza for the position of Executive Director of the International Sugar Organization (ISO) for the 2026–2030 term. The Eswatini delegation expressed appreciation to the OACPS Secretariat for its support in circulating a Note Verbale to Member States, which has contributed to raising awareness of the candidature and strengthening outreach efforts across the OACPS membership.

The engagement highlighted the importance of strategic advocacy and coalition-building within multilateral platforms to advance Eswatini’s interests in international institutions. The delegation welcomed the OACPS Secretariat’s continued support in facilitating engagement with Member States and reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to sustained lobbying efforts aimed at securing broad-based support for Ms. Mabuza’s candidature and enhancing African leadership within global commodity and trade organisations.
