Ambassador
His Excellency Mr. Sibusisiwe Mngomezulu is a distinguished diplomat, currently serving as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Eswatini to Belgium and the European Union. In addition, he presently serves as the Chair of the Committee of Ambassadors of the OACPS, reinforcing his leadership in international diplomacy and commitment to advancing the shared goals of OACPS member states. Since his appointment in 2017, Ambassador Mngomezulu has represented Eswatini with dedication, building strong relationships with European nations and championing the interests of his country and the wider African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS) community.
Ambassador Mngomezulu holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the U.S. International University in San Diego, California, a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, specializing in Economics and Law from the University of Natal in South Africa, and a Post-graduate Diploma in Project Management from the School of Business Management at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
Throughout his tenure, Ambassador Mngomezulu has held several influential roles within the diplomatic community in Brussels. He has served as the Dean of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the Southern Africa Member States of the OACPS, furthering the collective interests of these regions. He also chaired the Ambassadorial Working Group on OACPS Staff & Employment Regulations in 2022 and took on the role of Lead Negotiator for the Africa Regional Protocol in the EU-OACPS Cotonou Partnership Agreement in 2019. His active participation as Vice-Chair of the OACPS Subcommittee on Trade and Commodities in 2018 and his prior position as Coordinator of the OACPS Southern Africa Region (SAR) have underscored his dedication to fostering effective international partnerships and trade relations.
Before his appointment to Brussels, Ambassador Mngomezulu served as a Counsellor at the High Commission of the Kingdom of Eswatini in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His background is further complemented by over 15 years of executive experience in the private sector, where he held various leadership roles in private equity across key economic sectors, including mining, agriculture, project management, strategic management, and operations management. This extensive private sector experience provides him with a unique advantage in the furtherance of economic diplomacy and its primacy in international relations.
